Circulation Status

UCI Law School affiliates can request to check out eligible print materials and schedule a pickup.

All UCI affiliates can request scans from all available Law Library materials, subject to copyright provisions.

Instructions:

Start by finding a record in our catalog (use the search bar on the Law Library's homepage: www.law.uci.edu/library) for a book. You'll see the option to sign in for request options.

Click Sign In and choose UC Irvine Login. You'll be redirected to the UCINetID sign in page and will be taken back to the catalog record after you login. Options for requesting either pickup or scanning are available when applicable (if a book doesn't check out, you will only be able to request scans).

Choose your preferred option, scan or pickup. If you want scan requests, you'll need to enter the pages or chapters needed.

Click submit, and you're done! Someone from the Law Library will contact you at your @lawnet.uci.edu email address when your materials are ready,

Book pickups are generally during business hours Monday-Friday. A library staff member (wearing gloves and a face covering) will meet you outside at a prearranged time. We will meet you in the parking lot behind the law building and place your book in your trunk for contactless delivery. We will meet you in the courtyard outside the Law Library if necessary.

Turnaround times may be longer than you are expecting, particularly for scanning requests. We appreciate your patience. If you have a question about a request you placed, contact Jeff Latta, Access Services Manager (jlatta@law.uci.edu).

(This process generally works the same for eligible books at other UCI LIbraries. You must go to Langson Library to pick up all non-law-library books. The pickup process there is a little different from the Law Library, but you'll receive the information you need after placing your request.)

Renewals and Returns

All library items eligible for renewal can be renewed online through your patron account; log in using the prompt in the upper right corner of the screen on this page: https://uci.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01CDL_IRV_INST:UCI

Books from any UCI Library can be returned to the book drops at the entrance of the Langson and Science Libraries at any time. UCI Law affiliates who prefer to return books to the Law Library can schedule an appointment to do so starting on Monday, August 17th. Contact the Access Services Manager for more details and to request an appointment.

Please note that all books returned to any UCI Library will remain on your account for at least 4 days after return, for safe quarantining before handling. If your book is over 3 weeks overdue when it is returned, please contact the Law Library.
