The Federal Register website houses a user friendly version of the Federal Register to help users easily search the Federal Register, but the HTML versions of documents displayed on the website are considered unofficial so you should use the PDF, which is linked from FDsys, as the official version of the Federal Register. You can view the comments people file when a new regulation is proposed and before the regulation has passed on this government website.

You can view the daily updated e-CFR to see the most up-to-date information about the Code of Federal Regulations, including CFR updates and their related Federal Register information. But you should be aware that the e-CFR is considered unofficial.

The University of Virginia publishes a helpful guide of government information resources. In particular, the guide includes a list of administrative decisions and other actions, searchable by agency or by subject.

The California Office of Administrative Law has a contract with Thomson-West/Barclays to provide a searchable online version of the California Code of Regulations for free.

Open the desired state in Cornell's Legal Information Institute listings by jurisdiction to find the government website housing the state's regulations under the "Regulations and Other Agency Material" section. The availability of regulatory information will vary by state and prior regulations may or may not be archived online.
